UMP Movies drops to low in UK ratings

With increasing competition and the lack of original film titles, UMP Movies has suffered further in UK Asian TV ratings after dropping to a new low.

According to official data for week ending Sunday 20th April, UMP Movies dropped to a weekly reach of 573,000 viewers – one of the lowest reaches since the channel’s inception in the UK. Since last week UMP Movies had a reach of 721,000 viewers – losing 148,000 viewers over the past seven days. The channel hopes it can revive its viewing figures with the acquisition of blockbuster movie titles from the Yash Raj Films banner, which it acquired recently.

The pecking order of Asian entertainment channels in the UK were as follow: Star Plus (1,109,000), Colors (644,000), Rishtey (627,000), UMP Movies (573,000), Zing (546,000), Star Gold (533,000), Sony SAB TV (476,000), Star Life Ok (395,000) and Lamhe (392,000).

Amongst the South Asian news genre, ARY News remained the dominant force with 373,000 viewers. NDTV 24×7 was the most watched Indian news channel with 201,000 viewers.

The full pecking order of South Asian news channel in the UK were as follow: ARY News (373,000), Geo News (252,000), NDTV 24×7 (201,000), Aaj Tak (198,000), ABP News (182,000), SAMAA TV (152,000) and News18 India (62,000).
