UK ratings: TV 99 gathers pace; Star Plus slips

Local independent channel, TV 99 witnessed a growth in ratings and surpassed some of the other smaller channels, while market leader Star Plus lost eyeballs further.

According to official data from BARB for week ending 16th August, Star Plus delivered a reach of 807,000 viewers (last week 893,000), followed by UMP Movies with 613,000 viewers (last week 631,000) and Colors in third with 541,000 viewers (last week 556,000 viewers). Rishtey was in fourth with 539,000 viewers (last week 562,000 viewers) and &TV in fifth with 518,000 viewers (last week 645,000 viewers).

The next tier consisted of Hum TV with 482,000 viewers, Zing with 474,000 viewers, Star Gold with 395,000 viewers, SAB TV with 334,000 viewers, Life Ok with 324,000 viewers and Geo TV with 317,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of PTC Punjabi with 281,000 viewers, DM Global with 162,000 viewers, TV99 and Akaal Channel with 154,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 150,000 viewers, Prime TV and Sikh Channel with 148,000 viewers, Venus TV with 139,000 viewers and PTV Global with 132,000 viewers.

ARY News remained the most watched South Asian news channel in the UK with 451,000 viewers (last week 481,000 viewers), followed by Geo News with 261,000 viewers, ABP News with 251,000 viewers, Geo Tez with 249,000 viewers, Dunya TV with 213,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 194,000 viewers, SAMAA TV with 180,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 148,000 viewers and News18 India with 61,000 viewers.
