Sony SAB TV struggles in UK ratings

Multi Screen Media’s light entertainment channel, Sony SAB TV is yet to make a significant impact in the UK market with another knock on its ratings this week, according to latest figures from BARB.

After steadily increasing its viewership over the past couple of weeks, Sony SAB TV was back down this week to a weekly reach of 195,000. The week in question ending Sunday 24th June. The highest the channel has gained is 239,000 since it joined BARB in June. It lost 10,000 viewers over the past seven days.

The broadcaster is expected to push the channel with its marketing initiatives. Recently, it has overhauled the station’s output with additional blockbuster movie classics at the weekend.

Sony SAB TV was not the only loser this week. UMP Movies saw its biggest loss this week shedding 308,000 viewers in the last seven days. The channel was down from 954,000 to 646,000 this week. The channel has since added a slew of new film titles to its library hoping to bring back the viewers it has lost.

While Star Plus lost viewers this week, Star Gold and Star Life Ok both added new viewers. Zing retained its position as the most watched Hindi music channel in the UK. ARY News continued to do well in the UK.

Newcomer, UMP Stars added new viewers this week from 23,000 in its launch week to 87,000 in its second week of existence in the UK market.
