Sony SAB TV pushes ahead of Sunrise TV

Multi Screen Media’s light entertainment channel, Sony SAB TV overtaken Sunrise TV for the first time, according to latest data from official UK TV measuring body, BARB.

While, Sony SAB TV’s ratings have remained consistent over the past few weeks, it was actually due to Sunrise TV’s waning audience that the Sony owned channel managed to push ahead. Data for week ending Sunday 29th July, Sony SAB TV was ahead with a weekly reach of 219,000, in front of Sunrise TV’s 215,000 – one of the lowest figures for the channel in recent times. Sony SAB TV also managed to stay ahead of Sahara One, which fell slightly from 243,000 the week before to 200,000 this week.

It seems most of the Asian TV channels have suffered this week due to the coverage of the Olympics in the UK. Star Plus remained the market leader with 1,154,000, while UMP Movies was down to 663,000. Star Gold was in third with 542,000. ARY News was in fourth with a weekly reach of 483,000. Star Life Ok seems to settling in well with 466,000.

Zing’s audience dwindled this week, losing 124,000 viewers from 339,000 to 463,000.
