UK ratings: Sikh Channel beats Brit Asia TV

Brit Asia TV & Sikh Channel launch in Canada

In a surprise turn of events, religious service, Sikh Channel has scored a bigger weekly reach than its sister UK Asian music channel, Brit Asia TV.

Both channels joined BARB at the beginning of this month and since then have had their viewership officially measured by the audience measuring body. Sikh Channel registered a weekly reach of 262,000 viewers, while Brit Asia TV lagged behind with just 168,000 viewers.

Star Plus retained the crown on top with 1,049,000 viewers (down from 1,103,000), followed by Colors with 734,000 viewers (down from 749,000 viewers) and Rishtey in third with 665,000 viewers (down from 732,000 viewers). A resurgent Hum TV Europe jumped to fourth with 625,000 viewers (up from 479,000 viewers) and Zing was in fifth with 565,000 viewers (down from 574,000 viewers).

The others in the pecking order were UMP Movies with 490,000 viewers, Star Gold with 404,000 viewers, Life Ok with 391,000 viewers SAB TV with 334,000 viewers, Lamhe with 263,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 268,000 viewers, DM Global with 251,000 viewers and PTV Global with 198,000 viewers.

ARY News continued to lead news genre with 496,000 viewers (down from 527,000 viewers), followed by Geo News with 308,000 viewers, SAMAA TV with 272,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 199,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 180,000 viewers, Geo Tez with 173,000 viewers, ABP News with 119,000 viewers and News18 India with just 32,000 viewers.
