UK ratings: Sahara One jumps ahead of Star Life Ok & Zing

‘Ghar Aaja Pardesi’ does well for Sahara One

Sahara One has managed to topple Star Life Ok and Zing in the latest round of UK ratings, BizAsia can reveal.

According to official data from BARB for week ending 21st April, Star Plus remained the UK’s most watched Asian TV channel with 1,113,000 viewers, followed by UMP Movies with 797,000 viewers and Rishtey closely in third with 757,000. Star Gold was in fourth with 485,000 viewers. Sony SAB TV in fifth with 481,000.

In sixth place was a resurgent Sahara One with one of the best audience figures recently. Its weekly reach stood at 411,000. Weeknight films have been performing well for the channel including ‘Dil Vil Pyar Vyar’, which raked in 45,600 viewers on Friday 19th April, ‘Daud’ on Monday 15th April with 30,400 viewers and ‘Family’ on Saturday 20th April with 26,000 viewers. Non film shows like ‘Comedy Champions’ raked in 31,000 viewers and drama ‘Jhil Mil Sitaron Ka’ proved popular too with 30,000 viewers.

Star Life Ok, which has slipped behind due to a couple of shows underperforming reached 376,000. Zing was in eighth with 326,000. 9XM was at the bottom with 119,000.

Amongst the Asian news channels, Al Jazeera English led the pack with a resounding 1,176,000, followed by ARY News with 448,000 and Aaj Tak in third with 229,000.
