UK ratings: Sahara One grows to new heights
Sahara One has touched new heights in the UK by delivering its best audience figures since going free-to-air last year.
According to data from BARB for week ending Sunday 20th January, the channel grabbed a weekly reach of 391,000 – up incredibly by a 99,000 viewers from the week before. Surprisingly, the channel had no major new shows during the week – its consistent ratings for shows like ‘Bollywood Buzz’ and ‘Karishma’ have clicked well with viewers.
The channel beat Sony SAB (297,000), Sunrise TV (262,000) and 9XM (249,000) in the UK ratings battle.
The most watched UK Asian TV channel remained Star Plus as the undisputed leader. The Hindi entertainment channel pulled in a weekly reach of 1,200,000. UMP Movies was in second place with 866,000. In third was Star Gold with 639,000. Zing was in fourth with 562,000. Star Life Ok was placed in fifth with 410,000.
On the news genre front, ARY News improved its position by pulling in an impressive 215,000 new viewers over seven days. It was up from 430,000 to 645,000. Aaj Tak did well with 341,000. Al Jazeera English remained the most watched Asian news channel with 845,000.
