UK ratings: SAB TV surges to record heights

Sony Pictures Networks light-entertainment channel, SAB TV has delivered record numbers in UK ratings during the Christmas week.

According to official consolidated data for week ending Sunday 27th December, Star Plus remained the most watched UK Asian television channel with a weekly reach of 921,000 viewers, followed by UMP Movies with 703,000 viewers and &TV with 655,000 viewers. Colors settled for No.4 with 620,000 viewers. SAB TV scored 612,000 viewers (last week 593,000 viewers) – the highest weekly reach in a year.

The next tier consisted of Zing in sixth place with 589,000 viewers, Rishtey with 555,000 viewers, Hum TV with 536,000 viewers, Star Gold with 495,000 viewers, Life Ok with 397,000 viewers and Geo TV with 351,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of PTC Punjabi with 327,000 viewers, Prime TV with 297,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 250,000 viewers, Venus TV with 224,000 viewers, DM Global with 204,000 viewers, PTV Global with 193,000 viewers, Sikh Channel with 185,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 170,000 viewers and TV 99 with 75,000 viewers.

ARY News strengthened its position on top of the South Asian news genre with a weekly reach of 544,000 viewers. It was comfortably ahead of its rival with Geo News in second with 320,000 viewers, followed by SAMAA TV with 286,000 viewers Geo Tez with 266,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 197,000 viewers and Dunya TV with 190,000 viewers. ABP News was next with 186,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 135,000 viewers and News18 India with just 61,000 viewers.
