UK ratings: Rishtey overtakes UMP Movies
Hindi entertainment channel, Rishtey has overtaken UMP Movies in the UK ratings race, according to latest viewing figures from BARB for week ending Sunday 23rd December.
While Star Plus remains untouchable at the top with 1,170,000, the battle for second place is on. Rishtey achieved its best ever ratings during the week prior to Christmas with a weekly reach of 841,000, slightly ahead of UMP Movies, which managed 815,000.
Meanwhile, Star Gold was not too far behind either. It notched up a weekly reach of 741,000. Star Life Ok delivered 497,000. Zing was in sixth with 419,000.
The bottom tier consisted of Sahara One touching a high of 374,000, while Sunrise TV was next with 346,000. Sony SAB TV, which is benefiting from being available on Freeview in Manchester now saw an increase its viewership to 316,000.
UMP Stars, which no longer is available in the UK bid farewell with a weekly reach of 213,000. Its rival channel, 9XM also matched its audience with 213,000 viewers tuning in that week.
In terms of news channels – Al Jazeera English grabbed an audience of 799,000. ARY News delivered an audience of 389,000 – just ahead of Aaj Tak, which pulled in 380,000.
