Rishtey has become the second most watched Asian TV channel in the UK by overtaking UMP Movies in the latest round of ratings.

According to BARB figures for Sunday 27th January, Rishtey had the best weekly reach since its launch last year. The channel touched a reach of 872,000 – mainly thanks to the successful telecast of the Colors Screen Awards, which got 169,500. UMP Movies was down to third with 812,000.

Star Plus remained the UK’s most watched channel with 1,146,000. The weekday shows ‘Veera’ and ‘Pyaar Ka Dard Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara’ continued to do well, plus ‘Nach Baliye 5’ was the biggest weekend draw with an average audience of 330,000.

In fourth place was Star Gold, which got 779,000 – the premiere of ‘Son Of Sardar’ pulled in a huge 181,000 on Sunday 27th January. In fifth place was Zing with 508,000.

In sixth was Star Life Ok with 458,000, followed by Sunrise TV (359,000), Sahara One (325,000), Sony SAB TV (265,0000) and 9XM (117,000).

Amongst the news genre, Al Jazeera English was the most watched Asian news channel with 857,000. ARY News got 405,000 and Aaj Tak slumped down to 220,000.
