The recently launched Viacom18 channel, Rishtey has claimed the number two position in the UK Hindi GEC market.
Within few weeks of its launch, the free-to-air channel has made a splash here giving its rivals some fierce competition. Rishtey sits behind Star Plus, which remains the most watched Hindi entertainment channel in the UK. UMP Movies and Star Gold follow in the Bollywood film category. Viacom18۪s Rishtey is being distributed by IndiaCast Media Distribution a TV18 and Viacom18 venture.
On this development, Gaurav Gandhi, COO IndiaCast commented, We are delighted with the promising start of Rishtey in the UK. The no 2 spot is a testament of the audience۪s affinity towards Rishtey۪s hybrid content offering. Encouraged by this, we will keep the momentum going by providing high quality entertainment in the next few months. With Rishtey and COLORS we now have strong leader brands in both FTA and Pay TV markets.
Pushing this advantage, Rishtey will also kick start the festive season with blockbuster movie premieres like ‘Cocktail’ and ‘OMG’ (Oh My God) this month.
In addition the channel will be launching yet another successful fiction hit from its Indian content library – ‘Na Aana Is Des Laado’ to its current programming lineup. Fiction shows like ‘Bairi Piya’, ‘Jaane Kya Baat Hui’, ‘Jeevansathi’, singing reality show ‘SurKshetra’ and Bollywood blockbuster movies have struck a strong connect.
