UK ratings: Record reach for ARY News & Aaj Tak

ARY News has continued to beat its own record in the official UK television ratings, according to data from BARB for week ending 18th January 2015.

The channel delivered a record high reach of 622,000 viewers – beating some of the general Asian entertainment channels in the market. ARY News was up from last week’s reach of 488,000 viewers. Geo News also did well by improving its market position with 355,000 viewers (up from 283,000), followed by Geo Tez with 296,000 viewers (up from 254,000). Aaj Tak also put on a good show with some of the best numbers to date with a reach of 276,000 viewers (up from 259,000), SAMAA TV was next with 221,000 viewers. Others in the pecking order were ABP News with 172,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 162,000 viewers and News18 India with 84,000 viewers.

In the entertainment genre, Star Plus stayed top with a slight increase slightly from 1,024,000 viewers to 1,070,000 viewers. UMP Movies stayed second by delivering 741,000 viewers (down from 792,000), followed by Colors with 731,000 viewers (up from 657,000), Rishtey with 627,000 viewers and Zing rounded off the Top 5 with 565,000 viewers (up from 443,000 viewers).

The next tier was led by Hum TV Europe with 500,000 viewers, up from 435,000 last week. Others that followed included Star Gold with 488,000 viewers, Life Ok with 486,000 viewers, SAB TV with 477,000 viewers and Lamhe with 414,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of PTV Global with 235,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 223,000 viewers, DM Global with 221,000 viewers, Geo TV with 196,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 195,000 viewers and Sikh Channel at the bottom with 173,000 viewers.
