UK ratings: NDTV 24×7 & Zing break records

NDTV 24×7, along with other Indian news channels witnessed record ratings during Narendra Modi’s UK visit and Zing scored its biggest ever ratings in the same week.

According to official data for week ending 15th November, Star Plus remained the most watched Asian channel in the UK with 998,000 viewers (last week 1,006,000), followed by Rishtey with 780,000 viewers (last week 703,000 viewers) and Zing delivered the biggest ever ratings with 761,000 viewers (last week 703,000 viewers). The channel’s show ‘Trendsetters of Bollywood’ was the biggest show on Wednesday at 16:00 with 41,000 viewers and daytime movies during the week also did well. Zing has been growing rapidly in UK ratings over the last few weeks and it remains to be seen if it overtakes the bigger entertainment channels like Rishtey and Colors.

Colors was in fourth place with 698,000 viewers, followed by &TV with 671,000 viewers, UMP Movies with 652,000 viewers, Hum TV with 519,000 viewers, SAB TV with 489,000 viewers, Star Gold with 450,000 viewers and Life Ok with 378,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of Geo TV with 296,000 viewers, Prime TV with 296,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 292,000 viewers, PTV Global with 240,000 viewers, DM Global with 222,000 viewers, Sikh Channel with 162,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 150,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 142,000 viewers and TV99 with 105,000 viewers.

Indian news channels got record ratings with NDTV 24×7 coming up on top with 361,000 viewers (last week 126,000). The channel’s coverage of Narendra Modi’s UK visit was the most watched. ABP News was in second place with 302,000 viewers, Aaj Tak in third with 291,000 viewers and News18 India in fourth with 117,000 viewers (last week 76,000).

The most watched South Asian news channel remained ARY News with 473,000 viewers (last week 455,000 viewers), followed by Geo News with 325,000 viewers, SAMAA TV with 259,000 viewers, Geo Tez with 250,000 viewers and Dunya TV with 213,000 viewers.
