UK ratings: Lamhe, Zing & SAB touch record ratings

It was a good week for UK Asian television channels, according to official data released for week ending Sunday 12th October.

Lamhe, Zing and SAB TV performed tremendously well touching new heights, while Colors and Rishtey also did exceptionally well.

However, it was market leader Star Plus, which continued to dominate the ratings and surging ahead of the rest. The channel recorded a weekly reach of 1,143,000 viewers (up from 1,127,000 viewers last week). UMP Movies (862,000), Rishtey (859,000) and Colors (858,000) were separated within only a couple of points of each other. Rishtey saw the biggest increase amongst the three – up from 575,000 viewers.

The next tier saw Zing passing the 700,000 mark for the first time. It touched a weekly reach of 705,000 viewers (up from 676,000 viewers). SAB TV was next with 608,000 viewers (up from 418,000 viewers), Star Life Ok registered 582,000 viewers (458,000 viewers) and Star Gold next with 577,000 viewers (454,000 viewers).

Lamhe was next with 517,000 viewers (nearly doubling its audience from 265,000 viewers), HUM TV Europe also improved its position with 449,000 viewers (up from 391,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi followed with 250,000 viewers and PTV Global in last place with 221,000 viewers.

ARY News maintained the lead in the UK Asian news genre with 524,000 viewers (down from 550,000 viewers). SAMAA TV continued to build on its ratings with a record 365,000 viewers (up from 279,000 viewers). Other channels in the pecking order were Geo News with 285,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 258,000 viewers, Geo Tez with 236,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 222,000 viewers, ABP News with 185,000 viewers and News18 India with a better performance – 91,000 viewers.
