UK ratings: Geo News claims lead in October

The heat between South Asian news channels in the UK market is heating up after Geo News claimed lead over its rivals in October.

While, ARY News remains the most watched South Asian news channel in the UK, Geo News got the biggest push in ratings on Saturday 24th October. Its ‘News’ bulletin and ‘Aik Din Geo Ke Saath’ AT 23:00 and 22:30 respectively, pulled in 85,000 viewers each – making them both the biggest shows on UK Asian news channels in October. ‘Documentary’ earlier in the night at 22:00 pulled in 71,000 viewers.

ARY News’ ‘News at 7pm’ on Monday 26th October was the biggest show on the channel in October with 63,000 viewers, followed by ‘Power Play# on Sunday 4th October at 16:30 with 52,000 viewers and ‘Off The Record’ with 48,000 viewers on Tuesday 29th October at 22:00.

Other channels in the news space that did well were Geo Tez with ‘Geomentary’ on Monday 28th September at 21:00 with 49,000 viewers. ‘On The Front’ on Dunya TV was the most watched show with 32,000 viewers on Wednesday 28th October at 21:00. On SAMAA TV, the biggest show was ‘News Beat’ on Sunday 25th October at 22:10 with 52,000 viewers.
