UK ratings: DM Global rises; Geo TV slow

DM Global continued to gather pace in the UK ratings giving the bigger networks a run for their money.

According to official data from BARB for up to week ending Sunday 4th January, DM Global delivered a reach of 456,000 viewers (up from 413,000 viewers) beating Life Ok (417,000), Lamhe (345,000), SAB TV (336,000), PTC Punjabi (264,000), Sikh Channel (216,000), Brit Asia TV (188,000) and PTV Global (171,000). Even newcomer, Geo News got the better of DM Global. This was Geo News’ first week on BARB so numbers are expected to grow in the coming weeks. In latest data, Geo TV attracted 195,000 viewers.

Star Plus remained the undisputed leader with 1,183,000 viewers (last week 1,196,000), followed by UMP Movies with 801,000 viewers (last week 841,000) and Colors in third with 670,000 viewers (last week 878,000). Star Gold surging into fourth place with 620,000 viewers and Rishtey down to five with 573,000 viewers. Zing slipped to sixth with 531,000 viewers, while Hum TV Europe was next with 465,000 viewers.

The news genre started with ARY News on top with 512,000 viewers (last week 637,000 viewers), followed with Geo News with 376,000 viewers and SAMAA TV with 313,000 viewers. Indian news channel ABP News dominated the Indian news genre with 285,000 viewers, followed by Geo Tez with 257,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 254,000 viewers and NDTV 24×7 next with 230,000 viewers. News18 India remained bottom with 39,000 viewers.
