UK ratings: Colors gives UMP Movies strong rivalry

UMP Movies has continued its downward trend in the latest round of UK ratings, according to data for week ending Sunday 30th March 2014.

The channel, which was had firmly made its mark at the number two position has had serious opposition from a resurgent Colors and sister channel, Rishtey over the last couple of weeks. Official data shows Star Plus remaining the clear leader at the top with a weekly reach of 1,126,000 viewers. It was followed by Colors with 819,000 viewers and Rishtey in third with 648,000 viewers. In fourth was UMP Movies tumbling down with just a reach of 634,000 viewers – down from 658,000 viewers. In fifth place was Star Gold and Sony SAB TV in joint fifth with 509,000 viewers.

The next tier saw Star Life Ok with 500,000 viewers, followed by Lamhe with 467,000 viewers and Zing sliding to 463,000 viewers (last week 481,000 viewers).

The news genre was led once again by ARY News with another fantastic week in weekly reach of 538,000 viewers, followed by Geo News with 306,000 viewers. The Indian news channel NDTV 24×7 did well with 196,000 viewers, Aaj Tak next with 176,000 and ABP News with 160,000 viewers. Pakistani channel, SAMAA TV dwindled down to 98,000 viewers from 125,000 last week. News18 India registered 52,000 viewers.
