ARY News has surpassed all expectations by thrashing the likes of Star Gold, Sunrise TV and SAB TV, according to first official viewing data supplied by BARB.
During week ending 27th May, ARY News scored a weekly reach of 484,000 beating Star Gold, which was close behind with 478,000. The figures come somewhat surprising especially for Star Gold, which despite heavy marketing presence has slipped. ARY News on the other hand has just started its marketing but has mainly relied on its free-to-air status on Sky Digital for the positive numbers.
Star Plus remained the market leader with a weekly reach of 1,076. UMP Stars was second with 670,000 and Imagine Dil Se, which is on its way out is still doing well with its repeat programming. The channel has delivered 547,000. Zing improved on its performance with a relatively larger than usual audience averaging at 515,000.
The bottom tier consisted of Sunrise TV with a weekly reach of 326,000 and SAB TV was in last place but picking up from last week with 156,000.
