UK ratings: ARY News extends lead further

While it remained the most watched South Asian news channel in the UK, ARY News extended its lead with record ratings in latest weekly reach data.

According to official data from BARB for week ending Sunday 21st June, ARY News had a reach of 559,000 viewers (last week 447,000 viewers) – nearly double the audience of its nearest rival, Geo News, which managed 330,000 viewers (last week 295,000 viewers) and SAMAA TV with 297,000 viewers (last week 255,000 viewers). Geo Tez was in fourth place with 271,000 viewers, followed by Aaj Tak with 221,000 viewers, Dunya News with 205,000 viewers, ABP News with 185,000 viewers, NDTV 24X7 with 184,000 viewers and News18 India with 71,000 viewers.

Star Plus was the most watched Asian channel overall with 969,000 viewers (last week 1,103,000 viewers), followed by Colors, which slumped to just 560,000 viewers (last week 689,000 viewers). Zing was just inches behind with 559,000 viewers (last week 578,000 viewers), UMP Movies in fourth with 529,000 viewers (760,000 viewers) and Hum TV rounding off the top five with 528,000 viewers (last week 504,000 viewers).

The next tier consisted of Rishtey with 519,000 viewers, &TV with 488,000 viewers, Star Gold with 404,000 viewers and SAB TV with 385,000 viewers.

The bottom tier had the likes of Life Ok with 284,000 viewers, Geo TV with 281,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 199,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 148,000 viewers, Venus TV with 135,000 viewers, PTV Global with 121,000 viewers and Sikh Channel with 114,000 viewers.
