UK ratings: ABP News & SAB surge in latest ratings

Star Plus strengthened its position at the top in the UK Asian TV ratings, while ABP News got record high ratings beating all Indian news channels in the UK for the first time.

According to official data released by BARB for week ending Sunday 1st June, Star Plus’ attracted a weekly reach of 1,122,000 viewers – up from 1,013,000 viewers. Colors was also up from 767,000 viewers to an impressive 817,000 viewers and in third was UMP Movies with 697,000 viewers (down from 718,000 viewers) and Sony SAB TV was fourth with 653,000 viewers – up from 429,000 viewers.

The next tier included Rishtey with 596,000 viewers, Lamhe with 508,000 viewers, Zing with 505,000 viewers, Star Gold with 419,000 viewers and Star Life Ok with 418,000 viewers. PTV Global remained low with 147,000 viewers (down from 148,000 viewers).

Looking at the news channels, ARY News led the South Asian news pack with 354,000 viewers, closely behind was a resurgent ABP News with 333,000 viewers – the biggest ever weekly reach. Aaj Tak was in third with 296,000 viewers and NDTV 24×7 rounded up the top four with 276,000 viewers. Geo News was in fifth with 194,000 viewers. SAMAA TV was next with 157,000 viewers and News18 India was up slightly to 128,000 viewers (last week 123,000 viewers).
