The UK’s only Hindi news channel, Aaj Tak has made a promising start in official UK viewing figures released by BARB.
According to data released for week ending 18th November, Aaj Tak had a weekly reach of 241,000 despite any marketing. The channel became a free-to-air service in the summer this year, when it left VIEWASIA. Its expected to begin its marketing in the UK in January.
Al Jazeera English delivered a record reach this week with 991,000, while ARY News managed a weekly reach of 384,000.
Star Plus remained the market leader with 1,190,000 followed by newcomer Rishtey with 749,000. Star Gold was in third with 654,000. UMP Movies in fourth with 636,000. Zing was on top form with 527,000. Star Life Ok next with 438,000.
The bottom tier consisted of Sunrise TV 356,000, followed by Sahara One with 259,000, then UMP Stars with 205,000. Sony SAB TV managed 184,000. 9XM made a lukewarm start with 86,000.
