UK couple hold a “drive-in wedding” due to coronavirus restrictions

British Asian couple, Roma Popat and Vinal Patel tied the knot by staging a “drive-in wedding” under strict coronavirus restrictions.

BBC News reports that the 30-year olds, arranged a huge screen for guests to observe the wedding ceremony from their cars. It was held at Braxted Park in Chelmsford, Essex.

The attendees were given hand sanitizer prior to their snacks and they were able to order food via a website, which was delivered by waiters.

In a statement, the couple said, “Both of us had the most amazing day and we have since had so many calls and messages from guests saying how much they enjoyed the experience and felt part of it.

“It literally meant everything to us to have everyone there, albeit in a slightly different way to the one we envisaged. It’s a day we’ll never forget.”

Imaani Photography, who captured the special day said on its Instagram, “On Friday we captured the first drive in Indian Wedding and it was an incredible buzz. The way people came together after a pandemic to celebrate @roma_p and @vinzp22 wedding was something we will never forget. Great to be shooting again although we got drenched! A fantastic effort from all the suppliers involved.”
