Asian Viewers Television Awards in UK in October

As revealed first on BizAsia yesterday, the first ever UK Asian TV Awards are set to take place in October.

The annual ceremony, which will be known as the Asian Viewers’ Television Awards (AVTA) is the brainchild of Rajan Singh. This will be his first major event after leaving Star TV UK earlier this year.

AVTA winners be fully determined via a shortlist of individuals nominated by viewers through a network of fan based forums and prominent media personnel. The winners will be announced at a glittering black-tie event at a Central London venue. AVTA will be attended by renowned media personalities, plus popular Indian sub-continent soap stars. The event will also be used to raise money for charitable organisations and profile their work locally, nationally and internationally.

The award categories include Best Entertainment Channel, Best Music Channel, Best News Channel, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actors and Lifetime Achievement Award, amongst others. Sponsorship is currently being taken for the categories and event in general via Singh’s Digi Media Global company.

In the coming days, BizAsia will publish an exclusive interview with the UK Asian media icon to talk about this event in detail.
