It’s evident that all eyeballs will continue to be on ‘Udta Punjab’ until it releases in June. In a mega deal, it appears that the music rights of the film have been sold for a big Rs 18 crore to T-Series.

“This makes it the biggest music deal in the history of Bollywood,” said a source to Mid-Day. Interestingly, the only other film which has manager anything near that amount is last year’s ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ which went for Rs 17 crore to the same label.

The source goes on to say, “The last time we heard of a record-setting contract was for ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, which is a crore less than this one. The ‘Udta Punjab’ album has a new age Punjabi vibe to it and the makers hope to strike a chord with music lovers”.

The first song from the much-awaited film came in the form of Chitta Ve yesterday which sees Shahid Kapoor in true wacky style. It is the talented Amit Trivedi who has composed the film’s album.

A spokesperson for the film confirmed news of the deal.

‘Udta Punjab’ is directed by Abhishek Chaubey and also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh.
