UAE based OTT app, Begin announces launch of bold Pakistani series ‘Besharam Comedy Nights’
Begin, the UAE-based OTT platform, has made a bold entry into Pakistan’s entertainment landscape with the launch of Besharam Comedy Nights, a six-episode stand-up series celebrating the country’s fast-evolving comedy culture. The show captures the essence of Karachi’s nightlife and features raw, unfiltered humor performed before a live audience at Club 432.
Besharam Comedy Nights brings together a mix of Pakistan’s emerging comedic voices, including Obaid ur Rehman, Hassaan Bin Shaheen, and others. Each episode follows a unique format featuring one host and two performers engaging with the crowd through observational humor, personal stories, and improvisation. Recorded in front of a live audience, the show thrives on spontaneous moments, where audience reactions often become part of the performance itself.
Three episodes are now available to stream on Begin, with new episodes releasing every Friday. The show is free to watch for global audiences, while viewers in Pakistan can access it through a local subscription.
The show will be accessible globally through the Begin app in the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Viewers in other regions, including the United Kingdom, Germany, India, Australia, South Africa, and Nigeria, can stream the show directly on begin.watch, expanding its reach to audiences across multiple continents.
Saffie Ahsan, Product Lead at Begin, said, “With Besharam Comedy Nights, we wanted to celebrate the growing comedy culture in Pakistan and give performers a platform where their creativity isn’t limited by format or censorship. Comedy is a powerful form of expression, and we saw the potential to nurture it in a market that’s brimming with talent yet underrepresented in mainstream media. This is just the beginning of our investment in Pakistan’s creative ecosystem; a market we see immense potential in.”
The decision to back local comedy content stems from Begin’s belief that humor remains one of Pakistan’s most authentic and relatable storytelling mediums, yet often one of the least supported. Unlike many commercial collaborations where creative expression is restricted by brand expectations, Besharam Comedy Nights gave comedians complete creative control, resulting in performances that are unapologetically honest and refreshingly uncensored, a rarity in Pakistan’s tightly monitored entertainment environment.
Ali Mankani, Producer of the show, added, “Comedy in Pakistan is often overlooked or restrained by boundaries set by sponsors and networks. With Begin, there were no creative limitations, just a shared belief in letting comedians perform freely. The result is something that feels real, spontaneous, and genuinely reflective of Karachi’s vibrant crowd energy.”

The final episode was recorded on October 12 at Club 432, marking the completion of a successful first season that tested new comedic formats and audience participation.
Begin’s creative team played a guiding role in shaping the structure and flow of the show but consciously avoided decisions that could restrict the comedians’ originality. The project was developed entirely in-house by Begin, underscoring the platform’s commitment to producing localized content that resonates with diverse audiences across South Asia and the Middle East.
Beyond comedy, Begin’s growing interest in Pakistan’s entertainment industry extends to other genres as well. The platform recently secured global rights to stream Pakistan Idol worldwide, a move that highlights its long-term vision to invest in music, reality, and cultural entertainment from the region.
Building on this momentum, Begin is laying the foundation for a long-term presence in Pakistan’s creative economy and actively exploring new opportunities to collaborate with local creators and expand its investment in the country’s entertainment landscape.
