Two new dramas to launch on Colors in January

Colors is set to launch two new dramas in January,BizAsia.co.ukcan reveal.

With ‘Bigg Boss’ coming to an end in the early part of the month, the channel is readying two new shows to fill the 21:00 – 22:00 weekday band.

Even though channel officials are keeping tightlipped about the new launches, it does look likely that ‘Phulwa – Choti Dulhan’ and ‘Mukti Bandhan’ will take over the vacant time slot.

‘Phulwa – Choti Dulhan’ is being touted as a story about the controversial real-life character Phoolon Devi – the ‘Bandit Queen’. The show is produced by Swastik Pictures and is loosely based on the life and times of Phoolan Devi, the dacoit-turned politician, who was shot dead nearly a few years ago.

‘Mukti Bandhan’ on the other hand is based on Harikishan Mehta۪s popular novel Mukti Bandhan. Producer Shobhana Desai told Hindustan Times that the story is being adapted by Vipul Mehta. “I۪ve read Harikishanji۪s columns in Chitralekha; there would be fights at home to grab the copy first. Many of them have already been turned into daily soaps. I read Mukti Bandhan years ago in Chitralekha and then, grabbed a copy of the novel too. I thought it would make for a great soap because it has the right mix of emotions and characters.”

The story is about rags-to-riches of a man and is the first show set against a Gujarati background on the channel.

The shows are tentatively scheduled to launch on Monday 10th January, days after the current run of ‘Bigg Boss’ ends on Colors. The channel is yet to confirm exact launch details.

Colors is also launching Hema Malini’s production ‘Matti Ki Bano’ in December.
