Two arrested for poisoning & robbing Bhagyashree’s in-laws

The Mumbai Crime Branch has detained two domestic helpers after actress Bhagyashree’s in-laws were poisoned and robbed at their home in January.

According to Times Of India, the main suspect in the case is, however, absconding. His real identity is unclear as he used several names during his tenure working with the in-laws.

A friend told Times Of India, “The prime accused kept changing his name and did not give his real identity. He first identified himself as Ram Prasad, later Raju and then finally as Ritesh,”said a crime branch official. According to the police, he had been hired by Bhagyashree’s in-laws, Shakuntala Dasani, 72, and Pannalal Dasani, 74, as a domestic help for their Irla residence in January.

Bhagyashree and her husband, Himalay Dasani, were on holiday at the time. The Dasanis already had two domestic helpers, Rajan and Chandan. Speaking to Mirror, a friend of the actress revealed that the accused had eavesdropped on a telephone conversation between Shakuntala and Bhagyashree. “Shakuntala told Bhagyashree that the man she had hired kept changing his name, which worried Bhagyashree. She mentioned that none of the three helpers were police-verified and added that she would return and get to the bottom of it,” said the friend.

Bhagyashree made her debut in Bollywood with ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ (1989). She is soon expected to make a TV comeback.
