Kareena Kapoor Khan who is rumoured to be in the running to play the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayan’, has apparently requested Rs. 12 crores for the part, which has disgruntled many on social media.
Reported on Box Office India, people have taken to Twitter to express their anger at the ‘Veere Di Wedding’ (2018) star being considered to play Sita. They have allegedly said Kapoor Khan is hurting the religious feelings of the people and by demanding such a high fee from the filmmakers is excessive and “against humanity”.
Also, according to a source earlier this week they said in comparison to what Bebo would normally ask for a film, this sum is much higher, “Kareena who usually asks for INR 6-8 crores for films has quoted a sum of INR 12 crores which have put the producers in a tizzy. In fact, right now, they are reconsidering their decision and in talks to take the film to a younger actress instead. But Kareena still remains the first choice.”
Those on social media have also suggested that people should boycott Tiwari too, should Kapoor Khan get selected. Comments have also been made about Saif Ali Khan and how his digital offering ‘Tandav’ (2021) hurt the sentiments of Hindus and that the ‘Good Newwz’ (2019) actor would be doing the same in this instance.
