TV18 to venture in film production

The owner of UK’s South Asia World news channel TV18 has announced that it is set to delve into film production.

Raghav Bahl who founded TV18 runs CNN-IBN, along with CNBC-TV18, CNBC Awaaz and IBN7 amongst others.

TV18’s first film production will be Ravi Chopra’s ‘Bhootnath’, which is directed by Vivek Sharma and stars Amitabh Bachchan and Juhi Chawla.

There are also two other films being talked about that TV18 intend to produce.

According to rumours, UTV’s vice-president international distribution and syndication Ashoka Holla has quit. The website BusinessOfCinema has reported that Holla is heading to TV18 group’s new film division.

When queried on his next career move, Holla says, “There are many rumours floating in the market about my next move. I have a few options in hand and I have more or less decided on my next destination. However, it is a bit early to talk about it right now.”
