&TV UK to launch daily movie strand

The newly launched &TV UK is intensifying its war in the ratings by adding daily movies to its schedule.

Starting from Friday 1st May, &TV will create a new afternoon movie slot at 16:00, which will broadcast recent movies from the mid-90s upwards. The film slot will be introduced in the weekdays between 16:00 – 19:00, followed by, which the channel will revert to its original programming output.

The decision to add movies to weekdays 16:00 had carefully been taken to avoid a clash with movies being shown on sister channel, Zing, also free-to-air. Zing broadcasts weekday movies between 11:00 – 14:00.

&TV currently only broadcasts five movies at weekends – 12:00, 18:00 and 22:30 (Saturday only). These will remain unchanged.

&TV is currently delivering a weekly reach of around 450,000, according to official data from BARB. It has fast become a dominant player in the UK market since its launch at the beginning of this month.
