Iqra TV became the first Islamic channel to join UK audience measuring body, BARB for the delivery of official audience figures.
Since it officially joined BARB a couple of months ago, Iqra TV has slowly been gathering pace in weekly reach data. The first reach it reported on 8th June 2018 data, Iqra TV delivered 62,000 viewers, followed by 110,000 viewers, 87,000 viewers, 100,000 viewers, 57,000 viewers, 106,000 viewers, 82,000 viewers, 74,000 viewers, 60,000 viewers, 45,000 viewers and it currently sits with an all-time high reach of 161,000 viewers.
Week-on-week, Iqra TV has performed strongly, beating some of the bigger Asian entertainment broadcasters along the way. The specialist Islamic channel has certainly given food for thought to the vast number of similar services available on the Sky EPG. Iqra TV, being the first player in the field to join BARB, has surprised not only the industry but also itself in commendable numbers.
The question remains, which will be the next Islamic channel to join BARB for UK ratings.
