Mona Singh, best known for her TV serial roles, was all set to play the mother of the protagonist in Karan Johar’s ‘Gippi’. However the actress is believed to have walked out of the project just days before it was due to commence shooting.
A source confirmed to India Glitz, “Mona had been signed on to play the role of Gippi’s mother in the movie. Gippi is a teenager and the film revolves around the problems adolescents face. She was the first choice and all the required paperwork was done. However, just close to a week before the unit could take off to Shimla for the shoot, she backed out”. It is being said that Singh gave a second thought about playing a mum so early in her Bollywood career.
Director Sonam Nair is also believed to have confirmed that Divya Dutta was approached at short notice when Singh left the project.
