‘Tubelight’ not releasing at Eid in Pakistan?

Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Tubelight’ may not release in Pakistan at Eid due to planned protests by local filmmakers.  The filmmakers believe the release of the superstar’s film will harm the business of Pakistani films that are also hoping to release on the biggest Muslim holiday of the year.

Two big Pakistani films, ‘Yalghaar’ and ‘Shor Sharaba’ are scheduled for an Eid release and both the Film Distributors Association and the Film Producers Association want to protect the business of these films.  Pakistani actor Mustafa Quereshi said “”If ‘Tubelight’ also releases on Eid, it will certainly hit the business of these Pakistani films and that will not help our industry”.

The filmmakers are even planning a protest by sending an official letter to the Pakistani Prime Minister and those related to the Pakistanti film industry have stated they will not release their films.  The chairman of the Pakistan Film Distributors Association said “”It is not fair asking our films to compete with big Bollywood projects on Eid and it is cruel to our industry”, he said.

According to Times of India, directives have already been given to stop the release of ‘Tubelight’ well in advance.
