Tributes have been flooding in for popular Leicester based journalist and UK Asian music promoter, Tony Singh Pabla, who passed away suddenly today.

Earlier this week, the UK Asian media industry was left shocked upon hearing news about Pabla’s hospital admission. He was rushed to hospital after a blood vessel burst in his brain (aneurysm). Since then messages have been pouring in on Pabla’s Facebook and Twitter, with most in disbelief over the news.

A statement was posted by the family on Facebook earlier, “From the Mother and family of our beloved Tony Singh Pabla. Tony recently passed away today. At peace with God. We respectfully ask you to allow us the time and space to grieve. And, with the greatest respect, we ask that you do not visit. We will update you as things develop.”

Pabla set-up popular Bhangra music website, Punjab2000.com and was known for his music store, Friends Electric on Belgrave Road in Leicester.

Tributes were paid by the BBC Asian Network and Sabras Radio earlier today.
