Tommy Sandhu returns to BBC after Asian Network sacking

Popular radio and television personality, Tommy Sandhu made a surprise return on the BBC last weekend, just months after he was sacked from his BBC Asian Network show.

Sandhu sat in for Craig Charles on his Saturday night show on BBC Radio 2. This was his first stint back on the BBC after his removal from the BBC Asian Network flagship show last September. He was dragged into controversy last year for his participation in a WhatsApp conversation, which made sexist comments and homophobic comments about other BBC colleagues. Since then, he has denied any racist, homophobic or sexist remarks.

When asked the BBC’s position on Sandhu’s return to the BBC, a press spokesperson told BizAsiaLive.com , “Tommy Sandhu stood in for Craig Charles on Saturday evening to present “The Craig Charles House Party” on Radio 2.”

The BBC refused to comment on how its position had changed after Sandhu’s removal from the Asian Network last year.
