‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ & Imtiaz Ali’s next get equal release?

With recent news suggesting that there is to be a clash between Imtiaz Ali’s next, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, and Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ in August, it seems the two films won’t be having the ugly spat that was seen when ‘Raees’ and ‘Kaabil’ released in January.

It seems both films will get an equal number of screens upon release which is definitely a rarity. Distributor Rajesh Thadani told Deccan Chronicle, “Both are big films so they will compete to get equal numbers of screens. They do have equal opening as of now, but it all depends on the hype that the films create closer to the release dates. After all, exhibitors want profit more than anything else and things could change closer to the big day”.

Interestingly, this “cold war” between Kumar and Khan hasn’t been reported about much. However, a source adds, “Both are big films so they will compete to get equal numbers of screens. They do have equal opening as of now, but it all depends on the hype that the films create closer to the release dates. After all, exhibitors want profit more than anything else and things could change closer to the big day”.

Both ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’, which also stars Bhumi Pednekar,  and Ali’s film are slated for release on 11th August.
