Times Now to launch Hindi news variation?

India’s leading English news channel, Times Now, is said to be working on plans to launch a Hindi news variation.

According to Exchange4Media, its parent company Bennett Coleman & Company Ltd has already started recruiting staff for the new channel. It is also set to be eyeing launches in various regional markets starting with Bengali and Southern languages.

It was also confirmed today that Rajnish Rikhy, Bennett Coleman & Company Ltd (BCCL) Director of Response will move to the television business.

The company told the publication that “expansion plans into Indian language news is mere speculation.” The spokesperson added, “Mr. Rikhy is joining the TV side to add weight to the Network monetisation. He will report to Nikhil Gandhi and lend his expertise to develop certain strategic focus areas within the existing network.”
