You may not have heard of Paresh Pahuja before the release of ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ but you will be amazed to know that the actor’s debut in the film as Azaan was one that many took notice of. He came as a breath of fresh air somewhat and left his mark in a film which had so many talents to its name, not to mention humungous box office success.

BizAsiaLive.com caught up with Pahuja to talk about ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ and more.

You’ve made your debut with a film that was the most successful of last year. How does that feel?
Very dreamy. Surreal. This is everything I always wanted. And it’s happening. For an actor, first film decides a lot of things. It’s the impression on the industry. Your career depends on that. And my first film turned out to be with Yash Raj Films, plus Salman Khan. Which has become the biggest blockbuster of last year with 300+ Cr business. Personally, life has changed completely. Family is unbelievably proud. I get mobbed (say loved) in public places. People are sending me sketches, paintings, poetry and lots of good wishes. And most importantly, been getting some really exciting offers.

Many dream of making a debut with a big star like Salman Khan. When you first bagged the role, were you more nervous or excited?
I’ve almost worshipped him ever since I started watching movies. I go to Chandan and Gaiety just to experience the fans’ madness. Working with him in the first film was a big deal. And I was nervous and excited both. I was a fanboy throughout my entire schedule.. I still am in fact. But he has a very lovely way of making people comfortable. He just makes you a part of his family.

‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ had a great ensemble cast. Were you conscious of this? What was it like on the sets between you all?
I won’t deny that. Yes I was. As I said, your debut has to be a very careful choice. I was a bit conscious whether I’ll be able to make an impact or even get noticed. But the minute I spoke with Ali sir about my role Azaan, I knew what was coming my way. And everyone was so encouraging. It was like a film school for me. I’m grateful to each and everyone of them.

You started your career featuring in ads but you eventually starting chasing your dream of acting. Did you ever think you’d have a film like ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ as your debut?
Honestly if didn’t, I wouldn’t. I strongly believe in power of your thoughts. And hence I was testing for lead roles only. I knew my debut had to have an impact. Tiger Zinda Hai was obviously better than all that I thought of. Entire industry has seen me now. Millions of people across the world have seen it. I’m living my dream. But as they say, it’s just the beginning.

A little birdie told us that you are musically inclined. If you could, would you contribute in Bollywood musically?
You know there was a time when I wanted to be a playback singer. Had a band in college. And even recorded a song for a small film after coming to Bombay. So yes, I’d love to sing for my favourite music directors like AR Rahman, Vishal Shekhar, Amit Trivedi, Ajay Atul. I’d love to do a musical like La La Land where I’d act and sing both.

What can we expect next from you?
Next will be something as big as Tiger, as exciting as Tiger, but completely different than Tiger. That’s all I can say for now. You’ll be the first few ones to know when things materialize.

BizAsiaLive.com thanks Paresh Pahuja for taking the time to speak with us.
