Ticket price hike for Ek Tha Tiger۪
Salman Khan has rocked the box office over the past few years especially over the religious festival of Eid. Consider his track record Wanted۪ (2009), Dabangg۪ (2010), Bodyguard۪ (2011) even films not released during Eid like Ready۪ (2011) took earth shattering initials. It comes as no surprise then, that with the hype having reached unprecedented levels for his next Ek Tha Tiger۪, that theatre and multiplex owners in Mumbai have decided to hike ticket prices by as much as 12 16%.
Most multiplexes rolled back the ticket prices a few months ago. So, a 12-16 percent hike will come out to be about Rs 20. Which is fair. After all it is the festive season. People are willing to shell out extra money for a Salman film especially during Eid. The multiplexes have taken this decision after a lot of research, said an insider to the Mumbai Mirror.
Confirming the development, Anand Vishal, Head of Operations, Fun Cinemas (a multiplex chain in Mumbai) went on to add, Nationally, the price will rise by about Rs 20 per ticket. After all it is a premium product. This kind of thing is done during festive seasons. And today Salman films demand higher premium than before.
And there is a pretty good chance that this gamble will pay off too. Ek Tha Tiger۪ sees Khan in a Yash Raj Production for the first time, the promos of the film have been exciting, the leading lady Katrina Kaif has had a dream run at the box office, and the music has topped the charts too.
Whether the film breaks Khan۪s previous records remains to be seen but the bets are definitely on for this one.
Ek Tha Tiger۪ is directed by Kabir Khan who previously directed the semi successful terrorist drama New York۪ (2009) and hits theatres next week.
