Three-way party join hands to apply for Edinburgh small-scale DAB

Recently licenced community station, SAM Radio, has joined a consortium seeking to introduce dozens of new radio services to listeners in the capital of Scotland by applying to operate a new small-scale DAB digital radio transmitter, or ‘Multiplex’, focused on the city.

Edinburgh DAB Ltd. has been formed by SAM Radio, long-standing radio executive Chris Hurst and Niocast Digital, the operator of Manchester’s small-scale DAB trial. The group brings together a unique combination of specialist skills, local knowledge, radio experience and passion for the city of Edinburgh.

Mazhar Khan is a director of SAM Radio and long-time advocate of small-scale DAB, “Our ethos from Day One has been to work inclusively with Asian communities across the city. The digital platform will open up so many new opportunities which will allow other ethnic groups and communities of interest to benefit from their own dedicated radio services.”

Anyone interested in adding a radio service to the Edinburgh DAB ensemble is invited to make contact via the website below or by emailing hello@edinburghdab.co.uk.
