Three phases for revamped Asian Network rollout

The much awaited new sound of the BBC Asian Network will be rolled out in three different phases starting from April-end.

The first wave of change involves the transformation of the weekday morning schedule. The date for phase one has been confirmed for Monday 24th April. On this day ‘Breakfast’ will become ‘Sonia Deol on the BBC Asian Network’ and will air 06:00 – 09:00. The present ‘mid-morning show’ will be known as simply ‘Anita Rani on the BBC Asian Network’ airing 09:00 – 1200.

Three weeks later, on Monday 15th May, the rest of the weekday schedule falls into place:-

1200-1230 – Update (News updates)
1230-1600 – Nikki Bedi on the BBC Asian Network
1600-1900 – Adil Ray on the BBC Asian Network
1900-2000 – Salaam Namaste UK (the Hindi-Urdu show)
2000-2200 – Regional language programmes
2200-0100 – Friction on the BBC Asian Network

The final phase on Saturday 10th June will see the new look to the weekend schedule.

The BBC Asian Network will completely revamp its sound from April with a whole new jingles package expected too. This change is the biggest since the station went national three years ago.
