The Sikh Channel signs up to BARB

Sikh Channel
Sikh Channel returns to Sky Digital

The Sikh Channel will become the first Asian religious channel to get its viewing officially measured by BARB.

As of this week, BARB will report official viewing figures for the channel.

It seems as an ambitious move for the channel, which runs little on commercials and primarily on viewers donations.

Going by overnights data released for Monday 1st December – Wednesday 3rd December, the channel reported a zero rating (audience too small to register) for most days except for around 4,000 viewers at 19:00 and 22:00 (Monday), 6,2000 viewers at 20:00 (Tuesday) and 6,5000 viewers at 07:00 (Wednesday).

We are very proud to announce that the Sikh Channel is now live on BARB. We are confident that this is step in the right direction. The move aims to show our commitment in increasing quality programming for our viewers. This is just one of the first steps that we are taking in pushing the channel forward and we hope that our viewers see more improvements soon,” said Gurdeep Singh, CEO.

Earlier this week, BizAsia reported that, Sikh Channel’s sister channel, Brit Asia TV had signed up with BARB.
