‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ producer denies stay order against film

Producer Ammara Hikmat has denied reports that the much awaited Pakistani film ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ is facing a stay order against its release this Eid.

The makers of the Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan film have been embroiled in a battle with Sarwar Bhatti, the producer and director of the original ‘Maula Jatt’ film released in 1979. Bhatti claims to have obtained a stay order from Lahore High Court against the Bilal Lashari’s film.

However, Hikmat denied that there was a stay order against the film. Talking to Something Haute, Hikmat said, “In no way have we been restrained from releasing our film The Legend of Maula Jatt. The Honourable High Court has merely directed us to not use any unauthorised copyright or trademarks. To this extent, there is no change in the status quo as we are not using any unauthorised copyright or trademarks. We have a valid Copyright Certificate on the script of our film and the Honourable High Court is aware of it.”

‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ releases this Eid-ul-Fitr.
