‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ under-fire over Navjot Sidhu’s controversial comments

Sony Entertainment Television’s hit weekend series ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ has come under fire after Navjot Singh Sidhu made some controversial comments about the Pulwama terror attack.

Upon condemning the terror attack, the Punjab cabinet minister said, “For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual? It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished.”

The comments received backlash from social media users, who objected to his statement. Some users demanded an apology, whilst others wanted him sacked from the comedy show. The hashtag #BoycottKapilSharmaShow had also trended online.

On Thursday, 40 soldiers died after a terrorist attack in Pulwama district on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, making it the worst ever attack on security forces on any single day since a separatist campaign broke out in Jammu and Kashmir in 1989.
