Noted film producer Dinesh Gandhi and his wife were two of seven people that were killed in the high-rise residential building fire in South Mumbai last night.
Gandhi, known for films like ‘Armaan’ and ‘Tezaab’, died after the 12th floor apartment where he was living erupted in a blaze of fire. The 26-storery building known as Mont Blanc was situated in the Kemps Corner area of the city.
Officials told PTI, “Seven residents from the building have died in the blaze. Identification of some of the residents has been made, while others could not be identified as they have been badly burnt. The victims were declared dead in the BMC-run Nair Hospital.”
Six fire brigade personnel, including two officers, were also injured while carrying out the rescue and fire-fighting operations. They are being treated at the National Burns Centre & General Hospital at Airoli in adjoining Navi Mumbai.
