Following much controversy, the much-awaited ‘The Dirty Picture’ (2011) will finally get its television premiere on Sony TV on 26th August 2012.
Due to the films supposed adult content, the telecast which was scheduled a few months ago was cancelled worldwide. However, it has been confirmed that the film be shown on TV with portions having been cut out to make it suitable for a TV audience.
Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures confirmed on Twitter, “‘The Dirty Picture’ satellite premiere on Sony on 26th August. For four months, it was painful to see the callous treatment being meted out to celebrated creativity. At last our Dirty Picture airs on 26th August on Sony!”
Sneha Rajani, Senior Executive Vice President & Business Head, Sony also tweeted that the film will be shown in two slots, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. She confirmed that two hours and 11 minutes of the film remains and that the essence of the story will still be evident.
