Tanuj Garg set for top role at Balaji Telefilms

Sources close to BizAsia.co.uk have confirmed that Tanuj Garg will take charge of the motion picture business of Balaji Telefilms Ltd. as CEO.

Since Garg’s departure from Studio 18 in August, after four years of establishing the company’s international business, there has been continuous speculation over his next move.

Garg will replace Vikram Malhotra, who, incidentally, was the COO at Balaji.

After a stint at Applause Entertainment, Garg, who was with leading majors like UTV and Studio 18 in senior marketing, sales, and distribution positions, has seen exponential growth. He will be the youngest CEO in the corporate film business and will spearhead and further the production, and distribution businesses of Balaji, which has delivered two major hits (‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha’ and ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’) this year.

When contacted, without divulging much, Tanuj Garg told BizAsia.co.uk, “Yes, I am joining Balaji but please let the company make the official announcement.”
