The Indian film industry is full of Bollywood divas who tend to create controversies in order to either get what they want, get themselves heard or both. The recent Bollywood diva to cause a stir is Tabu, who has reportedly turned down an important role in the upcoming Madhuri Dixit starrer ‘Gulab Gang’.

As reported by Hindustan Times, producer Anubhav Sinha approached Tabu to play the role of a politician, however she turned it down as she wanted the role of the protagonist, that Dixit has already been signed on for. As a source revealed to reporters, “Tabu refused the film because she wanted to play Madhuri’srole of a femalevigilante who heads a group ofwomen who help other women solve their problems.”

Apparently, Tabu had been offered the lead role before, however the production did not materialise at the time. Tabu speaking to reporters, explained, “I was approached for the protagonist۪s role many years ago. Because of lack of funds, the film never went on the floors. They may have tried to get in touch with me this time, but we haven۪t had a fresh meeting. Reports of me wanting Madhuri۪s role are baseless.۝

Also starring Mahie Gill and Shilpa Shukla, the source went on to state how other actresses, such as Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon have been approached for the politician’s role, which is “just as strong as Madhuri’s.”

If these rumours are in fact true, the question that arises is: Has Tabu let a great opportunity slip through her fingers?
