Tabu ready to be ‘dabangg’
Tabu, who has played many versatile roles winning accolades from both audiences and critics alike, will be seen playing a tough cop in her next, Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Drishyam’. While she has played many family oriented roles, she feels it is time for her to be ‘dabang’ too.
To the TOI, she spokeabout her upcoming role, as toughcop Meera Deshmukh in ‘Drishyam’, a role she has been eyeing since its original Malayalam version of the same name (2013).She revealed, “When I saw the Malayalam version, there was no talk of making it into a Hindi film. The role of this cop has too much power. I had told them to remake it in Hindi and if they ever made it, I would want to do the cop’s role. Maine tabhi un logon ko bol diya tha. I knew this is the kind of role I wanted to do. Now it is necessary that I do play a powerful character. All the rona-dhona is fine, but sometimes even I want to be the Singham or Dabangg.”
‘Drishyam’is slated to release on 31st July, and also stars Shriya Saran, and is directed by ‘Force’ (2011) and ‘Lai Bhaari’ (2014) fame Nishikant Kamat.
