Tabu approached for significant role in Mira Nair’s next
Renowned actress Tabu has reportedly been approached to play a significant role in Mira Nair’s forthcoming biographical film centred on the life of acclaimed 20th-century painter Amrita Sher-Gil.
Industry speculation suggests that Nair is in discussions with Tabu to appear in an extended cameo in the project, which is tentatively titled ‘Amri’. Should the collaboration materialise, it would mark Tabu’s third partnership with the celebrated filmmaker, following ‘The Namesake’ (2006) and ‘A Suitable Boy’ (2020).

A source informed Mid-Day, “Mira Nair has previously spoken about spending four years persuading the market to back the period drama, which is set between 1915 and 1941, and spans India, Hungary, and France. The inclusion of a respected actor like Tabu will further up the ante.”
